The San Diego Padres and free agent pitcher Nick Pivetta agreed to a four-year, $55 million deal Wednesday. The deal has not been confirmed by the staff.
Pivetta is the primary big-name signing of a protracted offseason for the Padres (if we’re speaking about guys of their primes). He instantly slots into the beginning rotation, giving San Diego a beginning 4 of Darvish, Stop, King and Pivetta—for now.

The Washington Nationals drafted Pivetta within the fourth spherical of the 2013 MLB Draft. He was traded from the Nationals in 2015 to the Phillies. He debuted with Philadelphia in 2017. Pivetta was traded once more in 2020 when the Phillies despatched him to the Pink Sox.
